Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

LITTLEROOTS LEARNING CENTRE INC. is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards.

This applies to our website and to our centre: to how a parent with a disability enquires about a place, how they visit us, how they receive information about their child, and how their child is included in our programs.

2. The standard this website meets

This website has been designed and built to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We consider WCAG 2.2 Level AA to be our target standard, and we assess against it whenever we change the site.

Specifically, this site is built so that:

• Every page uses proper landmarks and a logical heading structure, so screen-reader users can navigate by region and heading.
• A “skip to main content” link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page.
• All functionality is available from a keyboard alone, and the focus indicator is always clearly visible.
• Every meaningful image carries descriptive alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
• Text and interface colours are checked to meet the WCAG AA contrast minimums against our cream page background.
• Information is never conveyed by colour alone — our colour-coded programs always carry a text label as well.
• Text reflows and remains readable when zoomed or when text is enlarged, and the layout works down to a 375 px-wide screen without horizontal scrolling.
• Form fields have visible, permanently associated labels, and required fields are marked in text, not by colour alone.
• Motion is minimal, and all animation is disabled automatically for anyone whose device requests reduced motion.
• No content flashes, and nothing moves or refreshes on a timer.

3. Known limitations

We would rather be honest than claim perfection:

• This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. If that service is blocked or unavailable, the site falls back to system fonts — the content and layout remain fully usable.
• The enquiry form on our contact page opens your own email application. If your device has no email application configured, the form cannot complete — which is exactly why the email address and phone number are also shown as plain, clickable links on that page, and why either is an equally valid way to reach us.

If you meet a barrier we have not listed here, please tell us. We will not treat it as a complaint to be managed — we will treat it as a defect to be fixed.

4. Accessible formats and communication supports

On request, we will provide the information on this website — and any document we would ordinarily give a parent, including enrolment materials, our policies and your child’s progress summaries — in an accessible format or with a communication support.

• We will consult with you to determine a format or support that works for you, rather than deciding on your behalf.
• We will provide it in a timely manner, taking into account your accessibility needs.
• We will do so at no cost beyond what any other person would pay for the same document.

5. Accessibility at the centre

• Service animals and support persons are welcome. A parent or guardian accompanied by a support person will not be separated from them, and we will not charge admission for a support person at any event we run.
• Assistive devices may be used freely on our premises.
• Inclusion of children. We welcome children with additional needs. Tell us at enquiry what your child needs, and we will have an honest, practical conversation about how we can support them.
• Service disruptions. If a facility or service that people with disabilities rely on is temporarily unavailable, we will give notice of the reason, how long it is expected to last, and any alternative available.
• Our people. Our staff are trained on accessible customer service and on their obligations under the AODA.

6. Feedback — and how we handle it

We want to hear from you if any part of this website, our centre or our service was difficult for you to use. Feedback is welcome by any of these channels, and you may give it anonymously if you prefer:

We will acknowledge your feedback and respond in the same format you used to contact us, or another format if you ask. We aim to acknowledge within five business days and to tell you what we intend to do about it, including a timeline where a fix will take longer. If you need to give feedback in a different way altogether, tell us what would work and we will arrange it.

7. Assessment and review

We review this website against WCAG 2.2 Level AA when we make changes to it, and we review this statement at least annually. Where an issue is found — by us or by you — we prioritise it by the barrier it creates, not by how inconvenient it is for us to fix.
